Children of
Heaven (1997) - Director - Majid
Majidi - Iran
This is a very interesting movie
from Iran and is one of the best to have ever been produced
to explain what is the culture of Iran for a good many there.
Mainly, you come to appreciate
that there is a sense of caring, a striving for some sense
of idealism in what are the mores in such aspects of life as kinship between
members of
their communities and most especially - between siblings and family members
generally speaking.
Of all the cultures of the mideast, that of Iran becomes especially endearing
for
the "accidental tourist" (as it were) as no doubt it is serendipity
that gets you
onto this journey if you are of western mind given so many distractions are
always
available enough closer to home.
That said, it is important not to
condemn out of ignorance and this movie
will better put you in the picture so as to be kinder perhaps in a spirit
of better understanding once you come to terms with this element in the mideast that exists quite nicely certainly amongst the even broader masses
that make up Iran in totality.
