Orator improbus leges subvertit
"An unprincipled orator subverts the laws"

The Verdict (1982) Mr. Paul Newman

Mr. Paul Newman's Oscar winning performance is one of the best of any actor of all time in the very great drama. Playing a down and out lawyer on the comeback trail Newman gives us some tense moments when he chooses to gamble on a hunch that truth will win out over evil at the end of the day. In seeking true justice rather than expediency Newman gives us a bit of a scare in that he may be playing somewhat naive given the stakes and the forces opposing him. A brilliant performance with his summary to the jury in the case making a historical performance of the very great talent and humanistic spirit of integrity and genuine goodness in real ideals unforgettable! Everyone should see this truly great achievement here, from Mr. Paul Newman, who by the way, unfortunately passed away not too long ago. A sad loss for our world.
